A Step Up!!

It's been way too long since I posted anything new. I have been really busy since we got back from Georgia. Anyway, I just wanted to take the time to share some great news!! I start my Pharmacy Tech training today at work!!!! This is a huge deal to me because it's one of the things I wanted to do when I graduated high scool, but life took me in a totally different direction. It'll take a lot of hard work & patientce, but I'm ready for it. It's amazing to me because I never thought I would really go anywhere with my carrer & here I am after 6 months in my first ever retail job, working toward my 2nd promotion!! This job started out mainly as a way to get out of the house & into society a few days a week to being over a department, & now to this. I am apparently doing something right & the right people are noticing it. It just feels great to know that I'm actually moving forward in life. I guess it just goes to show that at even 31 years old you can still turn over a new leaf & do great things with your life!

Free Beer!!!

Free Bud Light on tap for an hour & a half last night was not a good idea!!! Surprisingly I don't have a hangover. We're heading back home some time today & I'll be glad to get back there! I've enjoyed the break from everyday life, but I'm ready to get back on schedule. Plus, I need to stay out of the sun for a few days, I got a little burnt. Thankfully it doesn't hurt. I will miss sitting in the hot tub reading, that was beyond relaxing! Speanking of reading, I got The Host by Stephenie Meyer, the author of the Twilight Saga. So far it's pretty good, a little hard to follow at times, but interesting. There are no vampies or werewolves in this one...LOL! Well, I guess it's about time for me to finish loading up the car, checkout is in about an hour or so. I'll post some pics of the kids & stuff when I get back home. I always seem to forget to bring the USB cable for the camera when we go places.

What A Weekend!!

Well, the past few days have been pretty great! I didn't meet my sales goal for my SaturDate last Saturday, but I had a good time. More people stopped to try the products than ever before & I did manage to sale a few. Plus the cupcakes were a big hit. We left Columbia Saturday night around 8:00 & got to Kennnesaw, GA at midnight. It was a good trip with no problems. It was cold & rainy all day Sunday, but we went to a mall nearby. We didn't buy too much, but we did enjoy just walking around. Matt bought the kids & I books, we got 4 huge chocolate covered strawberries from Godiva's, & had lunch at a Chinese place in the mall. The strawberries were out of this world!!! I could eat them every day!! After supper last night, we relaxed in our room & watched Paul Blart, Mall Cop...funny movie & it was nice not to have to worry about really doing anything. Earlier today I took the kids down to the pool & I sat in the hot tub reading. Matt has class until 5:00 this afternoon, then it's the everning social that the hotel hosts for its guests. Honestly though, I'm just enjoying the time off work & not having to worry about anything other than feeding the kids!!

Feeling Good!

I finally got the cupcakes for tomorrow finished, I wound up baking about 200. I haven't even started packing though. After standing in the kitchen for 4 hours, I needed a break. Not only are the cupcakes done, I've washed 2 loads of clothes & ran the dishwasher twice. I am looking so forward to this trip to Atlanta. We all 4 really need this break just to get out of town. The kids & I will be spending the day at the pool while Matt goes to his class. I can't wait to be able to relax & not have to do much of anything. I am going to miss work though & I'm sure I'll be worried about things not getting done the way they should. CRUD!! I just remembered I have to iron a tablecloth for tomorrow too!! Oh well, it's off to pull out the ironing board for me!

Not Enough Time!!

What have I gotten myself into?!?!?!? Once a month Walgreens has a SaturDate with Beauty where we feature 2 products. Well, this month it's Yes To Carrots body butter & Yes To Cucumbers eye gel & I have to make mini carrotcake cupcakes for my customers on Saturday!! On top of that, I have to get our clothes packed for a trip to Georgia, we're leaving when I get off work Saturday afternoon. Luckly I'm off work Friday so while the cupcakes are baking, I can work on packing. Actually, I think I'm going to go ahead & get started on the cupcakes today if I have time. So, I guess I should get up & get started!! Keep your fingers crossed that I meet my sales goal Saturday!!

Beautiful Day

I just spent the last 2 hours outside working. First I weeded the garden & raked it smooth, then I washed my car. When Matt called to see what I was up to & I told him washing the car, he asked if I was running a fever!! I just felt the urge to be outside for a while & decided to take advantage of it. It's amazing how being out there & getting some things done relaxes me. It was a nice change of pace, plus I didn't have the kids to keep track of. It's an absolutly beautiful day here too. The wind is blowing just enough to keep it from being too hot, it's 73F & partly cloudy, but the humidity is at 53%. Now I'm just hoping that my back & face aren't too sunburnt. As usual, I forgot the sunscreen!! Well, it's about time for me to start getting ready for work. I know I probably have a million things to do there tonight. At least it'll make the time go by faster!

Hmmm.....

There's really not much going on today. Matt took both kids to school this morning & let me sleep in. I really needed it!! I can't seem to get enough sleep lately. I did get to go to work with Matt for a little while. He had to go see a customer who is about 45 minutes away so he picked me up, we went through the drive-thru at McDonalds & headed out to see his customer. After he fixed her postage machine he dropped me off at home. I'm ready for a nap now!!

Mother's Day

This was by far the best Mother's Day ever, with a couple of exceptions. The first being that I didn't get to see my mom, the second, I had to work from 11-7. But Matt had supper just about ready when I got home from work. He grilled filets, cooked asparagus, & scalloped potatoes. After we ate, we went outside to plant my presents. They got me a vegetable garden!! Matt, TC, I took turns tilling up a place in the yard to plant everything, that took forever!! After we got it tilled & added 3 huge bags of garden soil, TC, Savannah, & I started planting. Hopefully before long we'll have tomatoes, okra, hot banana peppers, jalpenos, cucumbers, squash, watermelon, cantaloup, blueberries, & several different herbs. It'll take a lot of work to keep it going, but they couldn't have given me anything better. I hope all the other moms & soon to be moms out there had a wonderful day yesterday!!

It's Finally Friday!!

Y'all have no idea how glad I am that it's finally Friday!! Granted, I have to work tonight & all weekend, but I don't have to worry about rushing to get the kids ready for school. So, speaking of work, I am the Senior Beauty Advisor at a Walgreens store. I began working there Nov. 11, 2008 as one of the front cashiers. I had never worked in retail before & I was surprised at how much really goes into it. Working the front of the store is nowhere near as demanding as working in the cosmetics or photo departments. When you're running the front register, you basically have to stay there. In cos & photo, we have to help unload & sort the trucks, then we have to stock our departments. We also have to make sure we're keeping the customers happy while doing this. Some days I'd just love to hide in the stockroom until it's all over. Thankfully those days are few & far between. Another part of my job is doing resets & revisions. A reset is where an entire section of the department in broken down, discontinued products are removed, everything is put back together, & new products are put in place. A revision is where just a few things are moved around to make room for a new product. I enjoy resets about as much as I enjoy going to the dentist. Most days though, my job is pretty fun. I have great coworkers & managers, most of the customers are nice (yes once in a while I have one who I just want to slap), & there's something different to do every day. Plus, I get free product samples. So anyway, I'm looking forward to work tonight. I enjoy closing, but I don't like the fact that I don't get to spend time with my kids at night, especially if it's on a school night, tonight they'll be waiting up for me. I think that's about it for now, I'm meeting Matt (that's my wonderful hubby) at Sportsman Warehouse in a little while & I might take him out to lunch if we have time.
